Who Is It For?

The Learn To Bowl program is flexible in design and can be geared to ...

schools,
physical education classes,
youth groups and organizations,
community clubs,
senior centers

Other interested groups who would like to learn a little bit more about bowling as a lifetime sport.

Goals:

The goal of this program is for each participant to learn the basic skills involved in 5 pin bowling and develop an understanding of the rules and techniques of the sport. They will come out of the program with a better appreciation for a sport that over 800,000 Canadians participate in regularly and millions world-wide enjoy on a recreational basis. In addition to this - they will have fun. And why not? Bowling is a ball !!!

The Program:

Our trained and staff and/or volunteers will meet your group at the designated time and location. After a brief description of the schedule of events, the clinicians will give the group some background on our organization and member groups. This will be followed by a twenty minute instructional video. The group is then assigned to lanes where the clinicians support and instruct each individual as they practice the skills demonstrated in the video. One or two games will then be organized to emphasize skill development and the fun of bowling. A mini-tournament can then be set up or instructions will be passed along for the group's next visit. Membership and program information will be given to the group leader to be passed on at the end of the clinic. The program normally lasts 60 to 90 minutes.

How To Set Up A Clinic:

Contact the Manitoba Five Pin Bowling Federation office to set up your clinic. We will require the following information from you when you call ...

Name of organization
Contact name
Address and phone number
Preferred date and time
Number of people expected to attend
Age range of participants
Preferred duration of program (approximate)
Nearest bowling center - check with the center regarding availability

Please Note:
Our resources are limited and appropriate supervision of your group will be your responsibility.

Things To Remember:

No group is too old or too small. Whether you wish a one hour program or two sessions of 45 minutes, we will try to accommodate your needs. This may include previewing the video at a separate location before the on-lane instruction, if necessary. Material can also be forwarded on do-it-yourself clinics, advanced instruction or games, and how to set up your own league.

Cost:

We cover the clinicians' expenses. You cover the facility fees, transporting participants to the clinic, and shoe rentals. You can ask the proprietor if they will include the shoe rental free of charge.
